Description

  • Thermal Bridging: This course will provide participants with an introduction to thermal-bridge simulation and analysis using the free LBNL THERM software. 14 AIA & 18 PHI CEUs
  • PHPP: New Features: The PHPP received a major upgrade to v10, and this  course dives into the improvements which include summer overheating risk assessment, prediction comparison with monitored data, a Room Data tool and Record tool for complex projects, variants, including PV and solar thermal, project overviews, component categories for heat pumps and combination units, and more! 4 AIA & 4 PHI CEUs
  • PHPP: Heat Pumps & Windows Master Class: The focus is on the expanded treatment of heat pumps, cooling units, and windows in the PHPP v10 – how to navigate the new inputs and outputs to ensure modeling accuracy.  Practical exercises will provide insight into how to avoid common traps that arise in your everyday practice. This course will save you hours of toiling on your own and help ensure your PHPP modeling is accurate and free of those pesky error messages. 4 AIA & 4 PHI CEUs
  • Passive House Windows: This class provides specialized knowledge in Passive House windows from an overview through advanced topics. You will develop the skills needed to calculate for high-performance windows, and explore case studies of PH windows including single family new build and a variety of installation methods. 4 AIA & 4 PHI CEUs
  • Passive House Retrofits: The Passive House Institute developed EnerPHit certification standards to accommodate the realities of existing old buildings, where foundations, party lines, historic preservation, cost, and other factors make a typical Passive House certification impractical. This course looks at the criteria, the pathways, and the potential exemptions that drive EnerPHit performance to deliver the health, efficiency, and resilience results we expect from Passive House. Through case studies of successful retrofits, see how to upgrade a building with respect to airtightness, insulation, thermal bridge reductions, high-performance windows, and ventilation.  2 AIA & 3 PHI CEUs
  •  Using PHPP: In this course students will learn how to use the PHPP for simple (residential) building design and certification. Participants will be guided step-by-step through the relevant worksheets while learning the correct conventions for measurements and calculations. Proper documentation will also be covered in detail. A case study will provide participants with practical experience in completing and documenting PHPP calculations for building certification. (Note: this uses PHPP v9 with PHPP v10 introduced in New Features and Master Class sections.) 24 AIA & 12 PHI CEUs
