What is Passive House?

Passive House is a design and construction standard backed by more than 30 years of scientific research. It’s a construction concept integrating health, comfort, and efficiency into the design and building process. The Passive House methodology includes five building principles (climate-specific insulation levels, thermal bridge-free connections, airtightness, high-performance windows & doors, and high-efficiency heat recovery ventilation. Instead of relying on gadgets and technology that can fail or malfunction, the Passive House standard weaves these concepts into the architecture, creating a building with predictable performance that can keep you safer during extreme weather while reducing energy costs and carbon emissions.
