To maintain your Certified Passive House Designer or Consultant credential, renewal is required after five years.

There are two ways to renew your credential.

  1. Complete a Certified Passive House and submit project documentation to a PHI Assessor for approval. This allows Designers and Consultants to maintain their current status.
    • If a building is larger than 43,000 SF two persons can submit documentation and obtain renewal for the same project.
    • Active CPHD/C Assessors in the US include
    • Contact the assessor for documentation requirements and fee.
  2. Complete 100 hours of PHI continuing education units.
    • PHI education units are obtained by attending a PHI-approved course, advanced training, or event and then recording those events on the PHI continuing education renewal form.
    • See below for a list of places to find courses to fulfill the continuing education requirements.
    • PHI units may also be obtained by teaching a PHI-approved course.
    • See section 5.2.1 for further details.
    • Submit the renewal form along with Certificates issued by the approved events confirming participation to planer@passiv.de
    • The cost for renewal is 500 Euros. PHN/iPHA members receive a 20% discount.
    • REGISTER YOUR CREDITS AS YOU GO WITH PHI: PHI and PHN are not collecting your credits, but you can log them on the PHI Platform as you go.

Examples of this include a focus on:

  • Enclosures or mechanical systems.
  • Project processes and/or QA/QC.
  • Building design and construction economics.
  • Building codes and regulations.
  • Building incentives.
  • Energy modeling.
  • Related sustainability objectives.
  • much, much more…

Submit directly to PHI through their Request for PHI Credit Points form. The form is simple and asks for basic information:
