PHN Presents: Pickleball Meets Passive House

Just north of San Antonio, Texas, headed toward Austin, a Passive House pickleball sports center is rising. 12 indoor courts over 30,000 SF are set to be the most comfortable sports spot in the entire hot and humid US. Find out the story behind its development, the construction assemblies, design process and the decisions made that are getting it to Passive House performance. Hear from the developer, David Komet, who brought the team together and is driving this unique project’s many performance goals forward.

David Komet is a versatile professional with extensive experience spanning healthcare hospitality, pharmaceuticals, finance, and sustainable development. A magna cum laude graduate of Tufts University in International Relations, he has supplemented his education with studies in Germany and France, as well as specialized certifications in green building, community sustainability, Passive House design, construction management, and permaculture land design. David’s career journey includes leadership roles at Medical Center Guesthouse of America, Murdock Pharmaceuticals, Prudential Securities, and Urban Earth. Currently, he focuses on sustainability in the built environment, particularly affordable housing, commercial buildings, and controlled environment agriculture. Beyond his professional pursuits, David is deeply committed to community service, holding leadership positions in various San Antonio organizations, including the San Antonio Area Foundation, Downtown Rotary Club, and multiple Jewish community institutions.
