Since 2011, The Passive House Network has worked to bring high quality Passive House education to architects, engineers, consultants, developers, policymakers, and more. Our mission is driven by science–the building science that drives the health, resilience, and efficiency of Passive House, and the science behind our warming planet.

In the last several decades, our world has seen unprecedented instability in once-reliable weather patterns. Global temperatures are on the rise. The permafrost is melting. The sea level is rising. Extreme weather events are increasing in frequency. All of these are facts. Climate change continues regardless of whether or not our national policy acknowledges it—but the good news is that our work continues too.

As of July 2024, over 2 million square feet of our built environment has been certified to Passive House standards in the United States. This year alone, we’ve trained a record number of students to become Certified Passive House Designers, with more on the way from our Fall Cohort. We’ve added new Chapters, engaged new communities, and advocated for new incentives. We’re gaining momentum, and we’re going to keep moving Passive House forward to build the future we want.

We will continue to work towards making sure that safe, healthy, efficient housing is affordable for everyone. We know that Passive House is the best way to make that happen, and we have no plans of slowing down, but the only way to do this is by doing it together.

We hope you’ll join us–become a Member, attend a Chapter meeting, design with Passive House. Then, invite a friend. And then a colleague. And then a neighbor. The future is our responsibility to build. Let’s do everything we can to make sure it’s a good one.
