“We are excited to be announcing the competition winners at the AIALA Center for Communities,” said Ken Levenson, Executive Director of The Passive House Network. “AIALA and its members are fully engaged in making building design a driver of community resilience, and it’s a bright and beautiful space in a repurposed building, focused on community engagement. It’s a wonderful fit.”

Organized in collaboration with Passive House California and sponsored by ROCKWOOL, the design competition will develop a groundbreaking catalog of high-performance homes to inspire and inform the rebuilding efforts in the aftermath of the Eaton and Palisades Fires. Architects and designers are invited to showcase the power of Passive House in creating innovative, sustainable, healthy, and diverse fire-resilient communities, in various styles that reflect the vibrancy of Los Angeles.

The California Rebuilds Design Competition is supported by 475 High Performance Building Supply, Collective Carpentry, Hotel Marcel, Smart Win, and Wythe Windows, as well as community partners AIA Los Angeles, Building Decarbonization Coalition, North American Certifiers Circle, USGBC CA, and media partner Passive House Accelerator.

The competition submission deadline is September 30th. See the competition webpage for all rules and guidelines.
