Carlos Cardoso brings his expertise in sustainability,
project management, and collaboration to the mission of PHN.
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Carlos J. Cardoso, Partner and Director of Construction Administration at Beyer Blinder Belle, has joined The Passive House Network (PHN) Board of Directors. He joins a dedicated team working to bring exceptional Passive House education and advocacy to create a sustainable, healthy built environment.
“I am humbled by the opportunity to serve on the PHN Board and help clients and colleagues understand the benefits of Passive House,” Cardoso said. “Educating our builders in the best construction practices is where it all begins to come to fruition. As I like to say, ‘what the mind can conceive, the hands can achieve.’ By partnering with our building industry and making Passive House the standard for construction practice, we can create change. That integration is where I intend to focus my efforts.”
A Certified Passive House Designer, Cardoso brings more than 30 years of experience in the design, management, and execution of complex projects to PHN, focusing on new construction, renovation, and adaptive reuse for hospitality, residential, mixed-use, and other commercial projects. He has acted as a steward for his firm’s initiatives on Passive House and has been instrumental in spearheading the firm’s sustainability efforts.
“Carlos Cardoso is a welcome addition to The Passive House Network,” said PHN’s Board Chair Katelyn Meehan. “His commitment to sustainability, experience in sustainable architecture, and enthusiasm for the work will aid us in our mission to advance high-performance building standards. We are excited to leverage his expertise to further our goal of creating healthier, more sustainable living environments.”
A collaborator at heart, Cardoso embraces a holistic approach in all he does, prioritizing inclusivity and communication. Cardoso is a graduate of the City College of New York and a licensed architect in the states of New York, New Jersey, Ohio, and Florida. His lifelong devotion to the practice of architecture began in childhood through exposure to his family’s construction and real estate business in Brazil, Portugal, and the United States. The Passive House Network is thrilled to have his knowledge and passion for sustainable building and community development inform their ongoing efforts.
