A Note from the Executive Director

When I helped co-found the organization that would become PHN over a decade ago at a kitchen table in Marin County, California, the promise of Passive House was palpable. Making that promise real has been all our work across our regional, national, and global Passive House communities and your Network. We have shifted expectations. Yet, despite significant accomplishments, we’re only scratching the surface.

Let’s face it: the world is a riot of noise and distraction, and what gets attention is bling like Teslas and solar panels. Oh, how I sometimes wish Passive House was a shiny ornament! Instead, Passive House’s power lies hidden away in the building fabric. Hidden perhaps, but what great gifts it provides! The gift of quiet, both physically and mentally; the gift of focusing on those things that matter most to produce predictable building performance; the gift of health, comfort, and resilience for all, young and old, rich and poor.

I’m encouraged by the progress we’ve made together in 2023 and look forward to deepening our impact in 2024 with your help. So I ask you to consider, if you haven’t yet, making a year-end donation. It’s a gift that will continue giving.

Best wishes to you and your family.

Happy Holidays!

Sincerely,

Ken Levenson
