Up to $57,000 in All-Electric Passive House Wildfire Rebuilding Incentives are Available for California Residents
Starting April 6th, California homeowners and builders looking to rebuild sustainably and efficiently can start submitting applications to the RISE Homes Program.
The RISE Homes (Rebuilding Incentives for Sustainable Electric Homes) program incentivizes lower-carbon, all-electric, and Passive House rebuilds of residential properties destroyed or red-tagged due to a wildfire or other natural disaster on or after Jan. 1st, 2017, in any area where a Local Emergency Proclamation has been declared, that are served by one of the six investor-owned utilities (IOUs):
- Southern California Edison (SCE)
- Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E)
- San Diego Gas & Electric Company (SDG&E)
- Liberty Utilities (CalPeco Electric) LLC
- Bear Valley Electric Service, Inc.
- PacifiCorp, dba Pacific Power
Single-family, multifamily units, and Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) can qualify for incentives. If you qualify as an equity participant, you can receive higher incentives. You can find more details on the incentive qualifications here, and sign up for updates here.
Given these incentives, building an affordable, wildfire-resilient, low-energy all-electric Passive House that minimizes carbon emissions and protects rate payers from surging energy prices has never been a more obvious choice.
If you are just finding out about Passive House, watch our free 1-Hour Introduction to Passive House.
Architects, engineers, and consultants should attend our Certified Passive House Designer training and get skilled up to build the next generation of high-performance homes. Training-specific incentives are available. The Spring Cohort starts April 9th!
Builders can attend our on-demand Introduction to Passive House Trades and then consider attending the Certified Passive House Tradesperson training.
Let’s build a safer, more affordable, and resilient California together.
*Incentive amount based on being an equity participant and completing the all-electric base requirements, plus additional electrification and Passive House measures.
