PHN Continuing Education

Passive House Certification is critical to developing a fuller understanding of the Passive House Standard and the possibilities for optimization while providing a clear mark of a high-quality building. This support can be fully provided at the best price, when “the basics” are well understood and documented and common mistakes in the documentation are avoided from the get-go.

This presentation and discussion will dive into the reality that certification fees are heavily based on the designer’s experience and how complex the project is. A measure of experience is the quality of presentation of clear documentation when asking for a bid. The more organized and detailed, the better the price. And the key to this is a well-developed initial PHPP.

Hear tips on how to set your PHPP up to be well received by prospective certifiers, and support the best process of optimization at the best price possible.

Upon completion of all modules a Certificate of Completion will be automatically issued for AIA & PHI credit.

Learning Objectives:

  • Outline the basic process of certification and the relationship between certifier and consultant.
  • Describe the biggest drivers of certification cost and difficulties.
  • Outline strategies to make the process smoother and cost less.
  • Describe important strategies for PHPP development to support an effective, affordable process.
