This course provides an introduction to easyPH, a streamlined Passive House energy modeling tool created to simplify the certification of single-family homes. EasyPH streamlines and simplifies the inputs required for the energy balance calculation, while providing guidelines and resources for the necessary inputs.

The course will provide an overview of the key differences between easyPH and the Passive House Planning Package (PHPP), as well as a step-by-step walkthrough of data entry for a sample single-family residential project. Familiarity with both PHPP and DesignPH is encouraged, though not required.

Topics will include:

• Understand the use cases for easyPH
  • What qualifies/disqualifies a project for use with easyPH
  • When might PHPP be the better tool 
• Simplified workflow for geometry entry using designPH
  • Quick modeling of geometry and shading in designPH
  • Export to easyPH for detailed modeling
• Key differences in data entry between easyPH and PHPP
  • Fewer worksheets to complete, centralized data entry
  • Tabular entries of room areas (TFA), volumes (Vn50), and ventilation flow rates
  • Simplified entries of plumbing systems and heat pumps
