Blocks and Spots, LLC is a small family-run general contracting company that specializes in small projects. The core team is Garrett & Liz LaFrance . Liz is the designer and Garrett is the builder and together they design, plan, and manage renovations, remodels, additions, and the construction of ADUs.
2022 – Accessory Apartment: This project involved building a 750 sq ft ADU into the 3rd floor hayloft of an 1875 New England pole barn. This project is notable because it was built before the ADU by-right law was passed in Massachusetts and the local zoning had to considered it new construction. Since it was categorized as new construction we decided to take advantage of a Mass Save incentive for an all-electric high efficiency build-out. This was challenging in an 150 yr old barn but we met the requirements and qualified for their Energy Star rebate. The ACH50 value was 1.5 CFM. Total Budget: ~119k
